Project Assistant Position (33 - 50%)

Percentage dependent on skill level and web abilities

 

START DATE:  August 23, 2010

DURATION:   2010-2011 Academic Year 

 

 

ELIGIBILITY:  Must be a graduate student in good standing enrolled in a degree-granting program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a minimum of 2 graduate level credits each semester.

 

Nelson Institute graduate students and CHE affiliates will be given first priority for this position.

 

HOURS:  13 - 20 hours a week, flexible work schedule.

 

SKILLS/BACKGROUND:  Candidates for this position must be able to take initiative, work independently, and possess strong administrative, computer, and organizational skills.  Strong web skills (or the willingness to acquire these) are highly desirable, including previous experience with website creation and maintenance, and experience with MyWebSpace.  Previous experience with event planning and hosting also desired.  Knowledge of the UW-Madison campus is very helpful, but not required.

 

DUTIES:  a) Monitoring and maintaining the CHE website and listserves; b) providing staff support to the CHE Director, Department Administrator, and Executive Committee, including organizing and hosting meetings and CHE-sponsored events, and c) other duties as they arise.

 

BENEFITS:  This position provides a full out-of-state tuition waiver, though the project  assistant will still be responsible for paying the "segregated fees" portion of "Tuition and Fees."  This position provides benefits such as eligibility for a Group Health Insurance Plan, various other health and life insurance plans, and sick leave.  This is a C-basis position, so it carries no vacation benefit.
